Aluminum is strong, lightweight, durable, and easy to extrude into complex facade profiles. It is also an efficient conductor of heat, so unbroken framing can bypass otherwise high-performing glass and insulation.
How a thermal break works
A low-conductivity polyamide or similar material separates the interior and exterior aluminum portions of a profile. The geometry and width of this barrier reduce heat flow while maintaining structural continuity through the assembled frame.
Comfort and condensation
Warmer interior surface temperatures improve comfort near the facade and reduce the chance that humid indoor air will condense on frames. The result depends on climate, indoor conditions, glass edges, adjacent construction, and installation quality.
Specify measurable performance
Request tested or calculated whole-frame values for the actual profile and glass combination. Generic claims such as “thermally broken” do not reveal the size, geometry, or performance of the break, nor the effect of anchors and perimeter details.
