The right facade system is not necessarily the most expensive or technically complex option. It is the system that delivers the intended appearance and verified performance while fitting the project’s structure, programme, supply chain, and maintenance strategy.
Define measurable requirements
Translate the concept into criteria for air and water resistance, wind, thermal and acoustic performance, fire safety, daylight, movement, durability, access, and visual tolerances. Clear priorities make comparisons more objective.
Test buildability early
Review module sizes, material availability, factory capability, transport, lifting, interfaces, temporary works, sequencing, and replacement routes. Repetition can improve efficiency, while unusual geometry needs sufficient design and prototyping time.
Compare whole-life value
Installed price is only one part of value. Consider energy use, cleaning, inspection, sealant replacement, spare parts, coating life, access equipment, and the disruption caused by future repairs before making the final selection.
