Why Facade Mock-Ups and Performance Testing Matter

Mock-ups turn drawings into evidence, allowing teams to verify appearance, interfaces, workmanship, air leakage, water resistance, and movement.

A facade mock-up is not merely a presentation model. When planned around representative and difficult conditions, it becomes a practical tool for resolving details, training teams, validating workmanship, and confirming performance before full production.

Visual mock-ups

Full-size samples reveal color, reflectance, joint width, panel flatness, glass distortion, shadow, interfaces, and how materials look under changing daylight. They create a clear benchmark for later production and site acceptance.

Performance mock-ups

Laboratory assemblies can be tested for air leakage, static and dynamic water penetration, structural wind loads, movement, impact, and other project criteria. Failures expose correctable design or workmanship issues before they multiply across the building.

Field testing

On-site chamber and hose tests check production installation, perimeter interfaces, and repairs under real conditions. Tests are most valuable when responsibilities, sequence, acceptance criteria, documentation, and a process for corrective action are agreed in advance.
